Which brand of pointe shoes do you wear? Perhaps the fit is not so good. If you get a better pair that fits perfectly, then maybe you won't have pain. Have you ever tried Gaynor Mindens?
airchild: it's Bloch. i've tried 10 pairs and this one fits the best already. Gaynor Mindens, only bought their leotard, never tried their pointe shoes. not sure if it's available in hk.
Yes, they sell GM at Fonteyn. However, the fitting method of GM is vastly different from the traditional types of pointe shoes. I heard that the Fonteyn fitters are not so good. Anyway, you might want to check them out because they have shock absorbing material that for some people makes a big difference in the comfort level. But it's important to get the softer shanks (there are 5 different shank strengths), as the hard ones make it very hard to do the demi pointe and tendus. I suggest that you get an opinion from a very experienced teachers here: http://www.the-perfect-pointe.com/ FittingInformation.html She is not for GM at all but maybe she can give you suggestions for another brand that would suit you. Cheers
airchild: all my instructors are very experienced... and actually well-known dancers/performers. i guess the best pointe shoes are tailor-made, which for me as an amateur, i just won't consider. thanks anyway.
Yes, tailor-made shoes would be so ever perfect, wouldn't they? : ) Which instructors do you have, by the way? Well, it isn't their fault whatever happens to your shoes anyway. It is a tough art and science to have the perfectly fitted pointe shoes and the fitters have an important job here. But, wow, you have had 10 pairs a year? That's a lot of money!
airchild: hey, are u wahasa who wrote the adult ballet blog too? for privacy reason, i won't say my instructors' names here. did i say i have 10 pairs a year? never said so.
Hi mad dog, sorry i misread your reply. You said "I've tried 10 pairs..." I thought you tried by having purchased them. Yes, I'm the one with the blog. Please feel free to leave a private message there if you like. Thanks!

i tried 10 different pairs during the fitting (purchasing), not that i've bought 10 pairs in a year.
