今年第七十九屆奧斯卡將會首次有五位黑人演員踏上紅地毯: Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland), Jennifer Hudson (Dreamgirls), Eddie Murphy (Dreamgirls), Will Smith (The Pursuit of Happyness)及Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond). 那這是否意味著一個新里程? 即管拭目以待.
雖然第一個獲最佳男主角的黑人是多年前的Sidney Poitier (1963), 但第一個女性黑人獲最佳女主角這個殊榮是2002年的Halle Berry, 那年, Denzel Washington同獲最佳男主角獎項, 是繼Poitier 38年之後的第一個男性黑人獲這個殊榮. 自2002年開始, 相繼有11名黑人演員獲提名奧斯卡獎項.
不過不少人認為這個不是趨勢, 而只是一個階段, 有些女性黑人演員獲提名後, 一整年都沒有工作. 七十年代時Diana Ross, Cicely Tyson及Diahann Carroll等皆獲提名最佳女主角, 之後十年都沒有黑人女演員獲提名.
不過即使2002年男女主角得主都是黑人, 他倆演繹的角色都頗具爭議, Denzel Washington飾演的是"Training Day"中的貪污警察, 而Halle Berry飾演的是"Monster's Ball"中愛上種族主義的男人的女角. 荷李活的黑人演員都覺得奧斯卡白人選委給予黑人演員獎項只是因為他們演繹的角色更鼓勵對有色人種的標籤及歧視: angry black man, noble slave, sexualized black woman."Training Day"的導演Antoine Fuqua說, 電影工業都是白人主導: "People make films about what they experience, about what they know, and the film business was created by people that weren't African-American."
Will Smith在"The Pursuit of Happyness"的擔演或許是一個里程碑, 因為電影是關於美國夢, 和他本身是否黑人沒有關係. 另外, 被提名的最佳女配角更有兩位非白人: "Babel"中的Rinko Kikuchi及Adriana Barraza.
不過不要忘記, Halle Berry(2002年)之後, 一直沒有黑人女演員獲最佳女主角提名. "We still don't have a female African-American superstar... there's not even a female equivalent for Samuel L. Jackson or Morgan Freeman."黑人電影歷史學家Donald Bogle說.
唯一的改變是有廿五年歷史的Black Oscars(一個多年來於奧斯卡舉行前一晚專為黑人演員而辦的私人小組, 為的是嘉許被忽視的黑人演員)已取消了.舉行了七十八年的奧斯卡只有九個黑人演員獲獎:

講開黑人, 下任美國總統一係希拉莉 vs 朱利亞尼, 一係黑人王奧當高 vs 朱利亞尼, 咁, 睇嚟美國嘅下一任總統真係好有可能打破傳統呀!
黑人做總統或女人做總統!!!!! 雖然又好似冇セ可能! 記得妳講過, 美國唔會畀黑人做總統; 我亦認為亦唔會讓女人做總統.
我覺得世界在變, 20個提名中黑人有五位, 非黑人白人又有兩位, Penelope Cruz(西班牙人)美國人也不把她當作白人. 全合共8位非白人演員在同一年提名oscar, 以前未試過, 最多一次都係3個(Oscar 2002, Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Will Smith)
"Letters from Iwo Jima"全日語對白, "Babel"又有70%非英語對白, 以上兩者勝出best picture都會打破oscar紀錄, 成為最多非英語對白的最佳電影.

It's good to see for such changes with more black people being nominated.
It will be even a great step if Obama can be nominated as the canadiate for the 2008 presidential election in the US.
But as you said, it is very likely to happen.

donald: 係呀, 我都好buy Hillary... 不過Obama D supporters話obama, "you are not white enough... not black enough..." 但叫佢點都要打低Hillary.
總之今屆會有重大突破...a whole new world...
