對於拍一齣荷李活電影片酬有二千萬美元的Julia Roberts, 在百老匯的週薪只不過是$35,000美元, 她踏上舞台為的當然不是金錢. Mel Brooks(電影及音樂劇金牌監製[The Producers]的監製)說: "演員踏足百老匯, 因為他們都想一生中, 嘗試真正的演一次!" 但Roberts會否像Madonna那樣, 在舞台上"滑鐵盧"呢? 據報道, Madonna於1988年的"Speed-the-Plow"舞台演出備受惡評. 不過, Mel Brooks認為, 演員即使在舞台受到數次劣評, 他(她)們都可以重返銀幕又找得著好的角色.
