Real Simple上的"18 Common Phrases to Avoid in Conversation"提到好些說話要修飾一下才宣之於口.
Don't say:
"You look tired" (instead say: Is everything OK?)
"Wow, you've lost a ton of weight!" (instead say: You look fantastic.)
"You look good for your age." (instead say: You look great.)
"I could never wear that." (instead say: You look so good in skinny jeans. OR I could never wear that…because I wasn’t blessed with your long legs.)
說的都是對女人說的話吧. 看來都是對外貌的評語. 不過想起來, 對同事或友人, 很多時都有話直說. 當然對高層又不可以隨說這些了.
上面的例子(instead say), 有些有點假啊.
友人/同事好像瘦了, 我會直說. 又通常都是真的在減肥, 或剛病癒, 或忙透了一輪. 肥了... 不一定敢說. 如果對方, 尤其同事說自己胖了很多, 或只會問: 為什麼呢? 你又不是吃很多.
同事偶然見我疲態也一樣直說, 我也不會有大反應, 只會想: 弊, 可能個樣真係好殘.
有時寧願友人們坦白一點, 互相提醒一下嘛!

對啊...:) 對朋友(或朋友對我)因為熟悉大家真性情,才能說些老實得難頂的真話
